How can we help?

Most answers are below. If yours is not, email us and a person will reply.

We aim to reply within two business days. Including your iPhone model and iOS version helps.

Getting started

Do I need an account to use ChloroFile?

No. Every feature works offline with no account. Signing in only adds a cloud backup and keeps your other devices in step.

How do I add my first plant?

Open the Plants tab and tap the + button, or tap Add a Plant on the Today tab. Give it a name and a start date. Everything else, including the variety, can be filled in later.

How do I set up an environment?

Open the Environments tab and tap +. Add your tent, room, or plot, then add the equipment inside it. Adding your light's wattage means the app can work out grams per watt when you harvest.

Plants and stages

The day count restarted when I changed stage. Is that a bug?

No, that is deliberate. The day number shown on a plant is its day in the current stage, because that is the number growers actually track. The total for the whole run is on the plant's detail screen as Total days, and in the recap.

I recorded a stage change late. Can I correct the date?

Yes. Open the plant, tap Timeline & Stage Dates, and edit any stage's date. Day counts and the recap update immediately. Each date is limited to the range between the stages either side of it, so the order always makes sense.

How do I archive a finished grow?

Swipe right on the plant in the Plants list and tap Archive, or set its stage to Done on the detail screen. Archived plants move into a collapsed section at the bottom of the list and keep all their history.

Can I delete a plant?

Swipe left on it in the Plants list. This is permanent and removes its logs, photos, and harvest with it.

Varieties

My variety is not in the list.

Type its name into the search field and tap Use "…" to enter it by hand. Everything else works the same, you just will not get the automatic type, flowering time, and lineage.

Where does the variety information come from?

A database compiled from breeder catalogs and openly licensed datasets, bundled into the app so it works offline. Tap the info button beside a plant's variety to see everything on file, including where the record came from and how current it is. Reported traits are what catalogs and growers commonly describe, not measurements of your plant.

Some varieties show "Unknown" type or missing details.

Coverage in the source data is uneven. Roughly three quarters of entries have a recorded type, a third have a flowering time, and fewer have lineage. Where a field is missing it is left blank rather than guessed, and you can set the type yourself on the plant.

Sync and accounts

Sign in with Apple is not working.

Make sure you are signed into an Apple Account on the iPhone under Settings, and that you are connected to the internet. If it still fails, try email sign-in instead and let us know what the error said.

My grows are not appearing on my other device.

Both devices need to be signed into the same account. Open Settings and tap Sync Now on each, and check the status line underneath for the last successful sync. Sync also runs automatically when you open the app.

Do my photos sync?

No. Photos stay on the device that took them, by design. If you move to a new phone, restore from an iPhone backup to bring them across.

What happens to my grows if I sign out?

They stay on your device. Signing out only stops syncing.

Pro

What does Pro unlock?

Three things: unlimited active plants, unlimited environments, and charts for every metric instead of temperature alone. Logs, photos, reminders and finished grows are unlimited on the free plan.

What happens to my archived grows on the free plan?

Nothing is ever deleted, and nothing is locked. Your finished grows are unlimited on both plans: every run you have ever recorded stays open, however many there are and whether or not you subscribe.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Refund requests also go through Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your data

How do I delete my account?

Open Settings in ChloroFile, scroll to the signed-in section, and tap Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and everything synced to it, and removes the copies on that device. It cannot be undone. If you cannot get into the app, email us from the address on the account.

Can I export my data?

You can share an individual grow's recap as a card from the plant's detail screen. A full export is not available yet. If you need your data in a portable format, email us and we will help.

What do you collect?

None of your grow records unless you sign in: no plant, reading, note or photo leaves the device on its own. On iPhone the app does report a short list of counts, such as that a plant was added, so we can tell which adverts led to an install. It carries nothing you wrote, and the Android app reports nothing at all. The privacy policy names every event in full.

Still stuck?

Email support@chlorofile.app. Tell us what you expected to happen and what happened instead, along with your iPhone model and iOS version, and we will get back to you.
